Return Policy


We understand the challenges of ordering online and know it's a very personal decision. While we hope you are thrilled with your purchase from, if you need to return or exchange an item for any reason, we promise to make it as easy as possible.

Free returns of full-priced items are accepted within 14 days of receiving your purchase (all On Sale items are final sale). You can return your item for store credit, a different item, or a refund to the original payment method. Your item(s) must be returned to us in their original packaging and in unused/unworn condition. 

Here’s what to do:

  1. Repackage your item in the box we used to ship it to you.
  2. Email us at to let us know you want to process a return.
  3. Once we approve your return, we will email you back a return label.
  4. Print out the label and affix it to your return package.
  5. You can then drop it off at your nearest U.S. Post Office location.

Once your return is received by us, you will receive an email confirmation of your refund. A credit will be applied to your original method of payment. Please allow 2-3 business days for your return to be processed and then 5-10 business days for your bank to post the refund to your account.

Please note:  Any item from our "On Sale" collection is considered FINAL SALE and is not returnable.

Annual Summer and Winter Sale Terms: Sale prices apply to in-stock merchandise only — no discounts given on special orders / Qualifying items are designated on the website and in-store. Excludes select merchandise / Discount does not apply to previous purchases or the purchase of a Gift Card / Cannot be combined with any other promotion or discount / Maker + Muse Reward Cards cannot be used during the sale / Discount applies to merchandise total before tax (and shipping, if applicable) / Any item marked down 40% or more is considered Final Sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.



Maker + Muse accepts returns on items purchased in our Maplewood, NJ store for exchange or store credit only within 30 days of purchase. All items must be returned unused and in pristine, original condition — and in the case of Jewelry, Apparel, Outerwear, Scarves, Hats and Gloves must be unworn. Original receipt or gift receipt must be included.


Our Unique Artisan-Made Products

If you’ve shopped with us in person at our store in Maplewood, you know that we specialize in one-of-a-kind, handmade items. We typically do not carry additional stock in the items we feature — so, as we tell our in-store customers, if you love it, get it now! Once it’s gone, there’s a chance we won’t be able get another one.



All special orders must be processed through our brick and mortar store and will require a 50% deposit. The balance due must be paid prior to shipping. Please email or call us during our business hours at 973-313-2722 for more information.

In some cases if something is marked “sold out” on our website, we can inquire about getting another for you … depending on availability from our artists and makers. If it’s a handmade item — or a piece of jewelry that contains natural stones — please be aware that each piece will vary slightly. That’s part of the inherent beauty!
